FES is without a doubt one of the most progressive distributors in Africa, well known for its successful representation and distribution of Massey Ferguson products throughout Malawi. Africa Focus gets some insight into the business from the Managing Director, Mike Aldworth.
Q: Tell us more about the history of FES and to what would you say you attribute your longevity and success?
FES has been selling Massey Ferguson tractors since 1967. Initially part of the Lonrho Group, there was a management buyout in 2000 and the company has grown from strength to strength ever since. In 2013, the African Agriculture Fund (AAF) managed by Phatisa acquired a majority stake in FES bringing with it a wealth of global knowledge, financial and regional expertise and an out-of-the-box approach to growing the business. This has allowed FES to be very agile and bold in implementing business decisions.
